Secret to a good life is knowing when your through...

Hello Friends,

It's late right now and I'm bored waiting for the wife to get home from work. Just wanted to give you a quick update on what I feel this blog is all about...FRIENDS.

I went and saw Rancid tonight at the festival pier on Delaware Ave. This place sucks, but I have seen Rancid every time they have been in Philly since they started coming here except twice. And more times then I can count Mike and Keely have been with me. I'm pretty sure that when they played the Troc 2 years ago, I saw them both nights, with Keely who was PREGNANT at the time. She love Lars.

Anyway, tonight they opened for Rise Against, who might be really good for the kids, but seriously, Rancid should not be opening for anyone at this point. I understand that we all need to make some money to survive, but the giant SKOAL tent in the parking lot area more than likely has nothing to do with Rancid. I will never ever knock this band for anything they do, but I hope from now on they stay away from the 104.5 sponsored Live Nation nonsense. Like I said, we all need to survive and so does Rancid, but all the corporate shit is uncalled for. They know they don't need it ...but whatever, they fed their kids tonight.

This being said, we got there right when Billy Talent got done. In my eyes they could just be called NO Talent and it all works out perfectly. Actually this was the first time I ever bought a ticket from a scalper. I don't know how "punk rock" this is or not, but I wanted to see my favorite band and not pay 45 dollars to do so. It all worked out in the end and the only thing that happened is that me and Mike had to go the the men's line and Keely to the girls line to get patted down.

On to the actual show. We decided we were going to kick back and just watch because we are old but as soon as they came on, opening with "Radio" we knew it didn't make a fucking difference, we were going to the front and getting into it. This is exactly what happened. It actually worked out perfectly b/c we couldn't find Keely and then all of a sudden she was right in front with us.

I'm not going to be able to tell you what songs they played in any order, but they played every song for us. All the punk rockers and the moon stompers were out in full force. I never had so many mohawks and freedom spikes go in my mouth at one time ever.

I feel like I am kind of rambling here but the bottom line is this...these mother fuckers are for real. Just watching them play together and interact is worth it all. Just seeing Mike and Keely, my "crew" for the night was incredible.

I guess the whole deal is this. I'm getting older. But the songs and music still mean as much to me now as they did 15 years ago. I crowd surfed tonight for christ's sake. Roots Radicals just means that much to me. It feels good to be a part of this thing we call punk rock. Every aspect of it.

But like I said, I'm getting older. And like this post's title says "The secret to a good life is knowing when your through." I hardly think I'm through. But I've still had a good life...and I got more life to live.

Totally drunk by the way.

Hope you keep coming back.

Coming up next...Philadelphia Brewing Company vs. Yards. PS...I drink Miller Lite so what the fuck do I know, actually, right now I'm drinking Genesee Cream Ale, so fuck it all together. BUT I went on both of their tours so I will compare those.

You also are entitled to Crue Fest 2: The Dismissal...it's coming.

Right now I'm listening to Johnny 99 by the Boss. The Nebraska version, which is amazing, but the live version is great too. The Loved Ones do a great version as well...ok, Highway Patrolman is on now. I'm drunk, friends. Getting married in less than a month. Talk soon.

Good Night.

End Transmisson.
